from college back to Mississippi and married Miss Mary E. Crocker, near Aberdeen, Miss., Oct. 19, 1843. She was born Mar. 14, 1827, died Mar 29, 1902. He and wife were devoted and zealous members of the Baptist Church, and he was a minister of the gospel. earnest and active in the service. To them were born six daughters and three sons. Soon after the beginning of the Civil war, he enlisted in the Southern army and died in the hospital at Jackson, Miss., Oct. 4, 1862, of chronic diarrhoea. He enlisted in the war sooner than was obligatory on him, in the hope of accomplishing something in the way of leading lost sinners to Christ. His constitution was delicate and he was in poor health, and his friends remonstrated with him, but in vain. His wife told him he would not live six months, and he lived just that time.

Susan Eleanor, daughter of Asa and Mary (Crocker) Hearne , born Nov. 26, married Miles N. Hines Dec. 15, 1863. Mr. Hines entered the Confederate army in April, 1861, and served nearly three years, a gallant soldier. After his marriage they lived in Atlanta County, Mississippi, until Sept. 1865, when then removed to Tens, and lived in several different counties, till 1880, they removed to Ladonia, Fannin County, where they died, the wife, Sue E., Aug. 24, 1881, and he Feb. 3, 1903. They were both good Christians. hc a member of the Methodist Church South and she a Baptist. To them were born ten children, viz: James Cracker, Miles Nathaniel. Howard Benjamin, Mark M. Pomeroy, Ralph, Avie Lee, Mamie Clyde, Alice, Nellie and Nannie Pearl. Avie Lee was born Atlanta County, Miss., April 5, 1865; married A. J. Hestor at Bonham, Tes., Feb. 14, 1884, and went to his farm near Ladonia, Tex., where they lived for three years, and moved to Wichita County, and bought a farm on Red river, twelve miles north of Iowa Park, Tex., and in three years after moved to the little town of Iowa Park, where they now live, 1906, engaged in the grocery and butcher business. Their children are Alma Sue, born Nov. 29, 1885. and Joseph Carroll, born Sept 19, 1900. James Cracker, son of Miles N. and Susan E. (Hearne) Hines, born Dec. 2, 1866, married Sept. 23, 1891, Miss Mona Otis, who was born Oct. 30, 1869; children: Aena Guy, born Nov. 25, 1892; Sue Eleanor born June 15, 1895; Bernice, born Mar. 15, 1896; Gladys, born Dec. 23, 1898, and Miles Lewis, born Aug. 3, 1897. They are Methodists and live near Owasso, Indian Territory, and are farming. Miles Nathaniel, son of Miles N.
