Civil War. After the Revolutionary War, Drewry Hearne emigrated to South Carolina, and married Miss Keren Bledsoe, of Edgefield District, and settled on a farm about two and one-half miles east of Meeting Street P. 0. and Little Stevens Creek Baptist Church, in Edgefield Co., twelve miles north of Edgefield Court House. Nearly all of his family were members of tihis clhurch. He lived here through life and accumulated a large property. He was a noble and good man, a great friend to the poor. He died 1839 and was buried at his homestead, His wife survived him about twenty years, and was buried at the same place. Children: Abner, John. Oliver, Toliver, Emeline, Jerusha, Elizabeth, Adeline, Sarah and Mary, the last two being twins.

Abner, born Feb. 22, 1815, married Keziah Bryan, 1836 (she was born in 1816), settled on a farm and was quite successful. He was a clear lover of fox-hunting, and a military man, for a long time captain of a militia company in Edgefield, South Carolina. Children: Nancy E., born 1838, died 1896; Bryant Lafayette, born Dec. 27, 1839; Martha E., born 1841; and Sarah Angie, born 1843. 1859 Abner Hear removed with his family to Miller Co., Georgia. 1861 he enlisted in the Confederate Army, but after short service got a discharge on account of feeble health, returned home, and was at once elected war tax collector for District 11, comprising Early and Miller counties, which office he faithfully filled to the close of the war, after which he farmed successfully until 1869, when he died Dec. of that year, and was buried with Masonic honors at Damas- cus, Ga. In politics he was a Democrat, and in religion a Baptist, as was his wife; they were both greatly devoted to their family and church; she died 1874.

Nancy E. Hearn, daughter of Abner and Keziah, born 1838, imarried John F. Free 1857. He died in Early Co., Georgia, 1893, and she died Dec., 1896. Children: Lonnie Abner, Luther Lafayette, Ida, George, and Mattie, They are all well-to-do people, and live in and around Colquitt, Ga. Lonnie, the eldest son, born 1858, married Miss Metz, who died 1884, leaving one child. He then married Miss Sarah Cowart, of Colquitt, Ga., by whom he had several children, Mattie Free married Mr. Phillips, and died 1892, leaving two children. Ida Free married Samuel Taylor, of Baker Co., Ga., and have three children; they live near Damascus, Ga.,
