Hearne Families

Welcome!

Hearne Families genealogy site provides the full descendancy of William T. Hearne's "History of Hearne" plus additional research, the descendancy of Andrew Thompson of Wythe/Bland Virginia, as well as several allied family lines: Thompson, Bruce, Fanning/Fannon, and more.

The History of Hearne

William T. Hearne wrote his book believing that all Hearn(e)s in the United States were related to William Hearne the blanket merchant from England. While some lines cannot be currently connected, there is a large percentage of Hearnes than can be. Since "History of Hearne" was put on in the Internet several years ago, countless people have written with corrections and missing branches. This database extends the structure of Hearne, adds several families, adds research documentation, and adds photos.

Andrew Thompson of Wythe/Bland Virginia

About 1782, Andrew Thompson and his young family settled in the Walker Valley of Bland County, Virginia. For more than three generations, they remained in the valley area of the rugged Southwest Virginia mountains, separate from other Thompsons in nearby regions.

Allied Families

Attempts to isolate families into separate files was almost impossible because so many of these families intermarried in the melting pot of Southwest Virginia, West Virginia, and Tennessee. Fortunately modern software allows us to treat it as the intertwined blanket of families it really is.

We're working on a more complete and better documented family tree. Let us know of any errors, and please help us with concrete documentation. We're interested in your family histories and stories. Photos are even better -- do you have some in a trunk somewhere you can share?

Contact us with additions, corrections, or content using the Suggest form or the email address to the right. Information on living is not shown to public access, however an ID and password can be obtained for that data.
